IZS Teramo at EuroTier
The Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise (IZS Teramo), as a member of the European Union Reference Centre for Animal Welfare (EURCAW) Ruminants & Equines, participated in the EuroTier exhibition to disseminate the results of the ‘Pilot Project on the Welfare of Dairy Cattle, including Measures to Protect Unweaned Dairy Calves and End-of-Career Animals – Care4Dairy”, an initiative funded by the DG SANTE of the European Commission to identify good and best practices to improve animal welfare in the dairy sector.
EuroTier is the most important international exhibition for professional livestock farming. Held in Hanover, Germany, from 12 to 15 November, it provided an overview of innovations, products, and services in the livestock sector. More than 2,200 exhibitors from 160 countries were present. The main exhibition areas were dedicated to the management of cattle, pigs, poultry, sheep and goats, while the programme focused on animal welfare, sustainability, automation, robotics, and digitalisation.
Luigi Iannetti, Head of the Animal Breeding and Experimentation Unit, Michele Podaliri Vulpiani, Head of the Animal Welfare Unit, and Francesca Pompei from the Project Development and Management Centre, all from the IZS Teramo, participated in the exhibition to promote the results of Care4Dairy and to establish contacts for possible future collaborations with professionals and experts from all over the world.
