Animal Health Ireland (AHI) will host a free webinar on Wednesday, 28 January at 1.00 pm (GMT), aimed at everyone involved in calf rearing in 2026. Held in conjunction with the 2026 Spring CalfCare Events, this year’s theme, “Healthy Calves, Your Profitable Future”, highlights the strong connection between effective calf management, high standards of animal welfare, and farm profitability.

Key areas covered during the webinar will include managing cows before and around calving, best practice in colostrum management and calf feeding, and effective strategies for the prevention of scour and pneumonia, all of which are central to maintaining calf health during the early stages of life.

The session will feature a panel discussion with leading experts in calf rearing and herd health, including Michelle McGrath, Programme Manager at Animal Health Ireland; John Mee, Principal Research Officer (Veterinary) at Teagasc Moorepark; Emer Kennedy, Senior Research Officer at Teagasc Moorepark; Liam Gannon, Regional Team Leader at Volac Milk Replacers, Ireland | Feed for Growth; and Catherine McAloon, Herd Health Specialist at University College Dublin.

The webinar follows the highly successful CalfCare events delivered throughout December 2025 and January 2026, building on the practical insights and guidance shared during those sessions and extending the discussion to a wider audience.
